Ian adopts a straightforward and commercial approach to advising clients in relation to their legal matters and intellectual property (“IP”) protection strategies. Ian assists clients with IP filing strategies, prosecution and enforcement, as well as with a broader range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including trademarks, patent, copyright, designs. Ian also often advise clients regarding commercialization, trade, permits & licenses, technology, data and e-commerce.
Ian regularly assists with the drafting and review of commercial documents related to the transfer, protection and commercialization of IP, such as IP assignment, franchise, license and distribution agreements.
Ian acts for and represents a diverse range of local and international clients on intellectual property related matters, including through involvement in proceedings before the Indonesian Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights and Courts of Indonesia.
Ian also often advises clients on corporate matters including company compliance, merger and acquisition, foreign investment, export and import, project financing and unfair competition. His clients include individuals, SME’s and multinational corporations across the pharmaceutical, medical equipment, information and computer technology, engineering, E-Commerce, food and beverages, fashion and clothing, music, film and cosmetics industries.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Advocate – Member of Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI);
- Registered Intellectual Property Consultant – Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.

- LL.M. (Master of Laws in Intellectual Property Law) – Queensland University of Technology, Australia and World Intellectual Property Organization;
- LL.M. (Master of Laws in Trade, Investment and Competition Law) – Universitas Pelita Harapan and World Trade Institute at University of Bern, Switzerland;
- LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) – Universitas Indonesia.
